Job Description:
As a Civil Design Project Engineer (Civil3D), you will play a vital role in preparing and reviewing contract documents, designs, and specifications for civil projects. You will be responsible for overseeing site design calculations, feasibility assessments, and client coordination, while ensuring all project activities are completed efficiently and accurately.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review contract documents, designs, and specifications for civil projects.
- Lead efforts on site design calculations and project management for civil development features.
- Develop technical proposals, cost estimates, and ensure compliance with construction quality control standards.
- Perform engineering analyses and calculations, develop detailed designs, and specify appropriate construction materials.
- Manage project administration, invoicing, and task delegation to ensure completion according to work plans.
- Coordinate construction quality control services and conduct periodic site visits.
- Present project-specific or technical presentations to clients and staff.
Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Site/Civil Design from a 4-year accredited college or university.
- EIT/PE registration or ability to attain within 12 months preferred.
- 5+ years of demonstrated experience in site development, including layout, grading, utilities, pavement design, and budgeting.
- PMP certification is preferred.
- Proficiency in Civil3D and AutoCAD required, with experience in Hydrologic and Hydraulic Modeling software (HEC-HMS, SWMM, etc.).
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
Qualifications:
- Experience with site design and permitting, and the ability to lead project teams with minimal oversight.
- Understanding of design drawings and specifications, with a focus on civil and site development features.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and tasks, including QA/QC reviews and technical report preparation.
- Experience working in a consulting firm is preferred, and leadership experience in mentoring junior staff is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to handle both office and fieldwork responsibilities.
